Identification Imaging is the objective of every advertising professional. With the deluge of electronic image content, collective state of distraction and the Pavlovian Trained “Instant Gratification” Generation, the cliff is steeper than ever to scale.
Let’s start from the beginning, in the reciprocity of images viewed and images that are retained. Lots has been written about making everything “Experiential”.
What does that actual mean?
The challenge that we are presented with in the transactional world that our consumer society crafted, Is the depersonalization of the interaction. The one dimensional, flat screen exchange is most unsatisfying to our complex organism, that has been acculturated for hundreds of generations with the warmth of mutual convivial reciprocity. Growing up in my sub-culture, where people are gregarious, warm and sincerely affectionate, the main stream culture has always lacked a certain Authenticity…. just so superficial.
It’s difficult to get excited about a hard candy peppermint, when since you were a child, you’ve been eating gourmet chocolate every day. Yet, the dichotomy of these two worlds have been most helpful as it has directed me to instill the necessity of “humanizing” every experience. Along with the greed of the Consumer Society, we have the bureaucratization of what we call Professional Behavior.
Adding to this morass, is the toxically dysfunctional “political correctness” factor and something as simple as primary human social connectivity must pass through an obstacle field of complex psychological screening to bring speaker and listener to a point of congruency. This “PC Factor” all by itself has debilitated normal social “Give and Take” exchange. At this point in my life, I selectively choose my social engagements; for it is much easier and safer to ignore anyone who looks like they have this large “PC Chip” on their shoulder. Years of experience have made “these people” completely invisible and totally insignificant; as their narcissism is a self-serving agenda. I am fortunate due to my age and experience that I can be easily dismissed by them, as eccentric and ready for the “glue factory”; as their new world order moves forward… Is this progress? No!
Due to these artificially imposed factors and social conditioning, what we have now is a gray and colorless mass, that receives some daily gratification to supplant this collective emptiness, by how many “likes” they received on their FB for the giant pizza they posted the night before. This temporary pop must be daily supplemented; as the vast majority of people live in a world devoid of actual authentic experiences.
The impact of this is most apparent, as it is safer in this artificially constructed world that we have created, to live within the boundaries of the “cookie cutter” than to branch out and create something original. Not to generalize, but the “Boomer” Generational Types were formed in a time and space where creativity was highly valued. In contrast to our Millennial children, where following the “flow” not being that extra tall piece of grass that sticks up; is what’s important.
Here is where the fatal flaw exists, as this suppression of individual creative uniqueness denies that First Impression spark to create an Eidetic Experience.
Growing up in the sub-culture, every experience is extremely sensory, in a manner that possesses an authenticity which creates the Unconscious Correlation. This experience is never gray but is colored with the unique flavor of the mutual exchange. In the Jungian sense, this Unconscious Reciprocity produces Symbolic Correlation that layer by layer produces a remarkable grasp and functionality of Emotional Intelligence. This is something you just can’t go to Harvard and be instructed on how to execute.
The question becomes, what are the qualities of something that is Eidetic?
Coming from the Greek word Eidetikos, it is a personal connection to the image that is first imprinted into your unconscious. It is an intuitive process in which there are no obstacles, labels or artificial barriers. Two people, with two sets of eyes, that absorb an image, that becomes the Prototype and with more information, the Archetype, in which you have a “vivid” and instant immediate recall capability.
The basis of this, is Eidos, which is the primary form of the individual; their image and likeness. This is further informed with Eidesis, the essence of the individual; which is your opportunity moment to absorb their significance and value.
I think the concept of “Eideticness” is a Disruptor Technology, as it challenges the social pathology created by the Liberalism of our times, as Eidetic ID Imaging seeks to restore the organic reciprocity of human connectivity; free of labels and conditions. As silly as this may sound, what are the personal merits, character, creativity and potential of the individual? I have mentored two generations of young people, who on those simple determinations, together we have made successful and prosperous.
The social model that is also the corporate/professional model we have created today, negates creative uniqueness and favors pedigree with all of its discriminatory privilege. This is now a hotly contested issue in American Society.
The “PC Factor” more than helping to lift up the underprivileged; has become their New Century shackles. Not to get political here, but the absence of opportunity for those who cannot go to the “correct” schools or have the “right” zip code is far worse today than forty years ago. The opportunities my generation had on the basis of our character, merit, creativity and personality is a universe removed from today’s world.
We must use technology in the form of mobile friendly psychometrics to re-establish a benchmarking system that places all the “qualities of self” on an equal footing with all the “benefits of privilege.”
