There are few if any thing that I can state with complete assurity but the results of my Talent Research for the previous thirty years yields a Success Recipe when pursued with patience- persistence is a winner every time.
YES, that is a profound and grand statement to make but when this is your Signature Legacy, you are granted the license to do this
My story takes me back, some thirty-five years when I was first formally introduced to the Science of Psychometrics. I was delighted with the assortment of professors, advisors, mentors and CPE Supervisors that were my doctoral educational team. They all possessed such integrity, dedication and a direct if not once removed connection to the Giants of Psychoanalysis in the Twentieth Century.
It was a true love-affair of sorts as they were enraptured with the rich symbolism of my ancient culture and how we had forged this into our Aspirational Life in America. My elemental devotion, purity of heart, keen analysis they believed was going to create with some kneading and rolling by them a High Rising Mind.
The one area where all the music stopped playing in this whirling waltz was the Myers Briggs Assessment. It was the eighth sacrament to them and they spent countless hours by every means to convince me that this was the Gold Standard Assessment.
Its length, tricky questions and complex sixteen grid result quotient were more geared to what German physicist, Werner Heisenberg might have been the thinking in early twentieth century but did not reflect the zeitgeist of the New Century that was fast approaching.
With the true New Hampshire Town Meeting ethos, we agreed to disagree without being disagreeable. This became a personal Vision Quest… to more than produce another Aptitude Assessment Instrument but to create a 360 Talent Philosophy that supported my series of assessment tools.
Fast Forward.. after thirty years of experiential research the crystals all were configuring into the matrix for my Talent Philosophy
It was a simple behavioral model that orbited around Four Keywords
ACHIEVEMENT
More than just Singular Achievement but the Culture of Collaborative Achievement; the art form and leadership of managing Relationships did I find a strong predictive indicator of consistent/ sustainable success.
The Relationship Mindset was just so easy to define and test out for its reliability. The simple question, “who wins?” and the four simple answers provided a vast introspective view into the manner that individual interacted with everyone. While in the early twentieth century achievement was hailed in its singular genius platform, the complex world of twenty first century connectivity requires Collaborative Leadership devoid of ego and status interference.
It did not take ninety questions to validate this, but a series of ten brief inquiries to yield a treasure-trove of excellent quality information.
APTITUDE
I’ll go way back to my childhood with the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Test which was the pioneer in Assessment Instruments. Too long and with once again the same challenge the Myers Briggs possessed those fun, tricky worded questions. I took a more Jungian approach and constructed my model with the premise, if the questions were both simple and the answer brief and simple, there was an increased likelihood that the unconscious reaction-response would do its instinctive thing…answer the question honestly.
Aptitude was in that context motivated by specific “Thinking Energies” which when tested out there repeated were only four Talent Energies. The question became how were they quickly revealed and then verified
The Solution Strategy applied every day circumstances and the four Talent Energy responses sifted and sorted the individual into a reoccurring pattern of behavior. It was a natural response that required no effort because it was who they were every day. No ninety questions needed and in ten questions, the Talent Type, Talent Expertise and Talent Growth provided the individual with Insightful Talent Solutions.
ATTITUDE
None of the assessments dare enter the world of ethics and character leadership but from my world with my students for thirty years, their Inner Life was the most predicative indicator of their success in life.
Just as the Relationship Mindset set the tone of Collaborative Leadership the Integrity Mindset was the building block foundation, as Jung would say, the Unconscious Compensatory Energy that nurtured this. It is impossible to sustain a healthy leadership role if you are hiding behind a mask that covers your Inner Life Deficiencies.
Using the same formula of everyday life situations, I was surprised how individuals revealed there not so good intentions and behaviors. Even with the added tag line to the ULT2EGO Analysis -INTEGRITY MATTERS, participants were undeterred to tell me that if someone dropped their wallet they would wait, pick it up and do nothing.
More than any other Success Indicator, Attitude was the most important to me for it revealed the Personal Operative Culture of the Individual. I would gladly hire someone with less Aptitude or Ability that had character leadership for in the skilled hands of their supervisors with time and effort that diamond would be polished to a brightness that far exceeds those that possess no integrity.
ADVANCEMENT
The Advancement Mindset revealed the self-discipline and direct of the individual. This Culture of Continuous Improvement just like the Integrity Mindset was another area that other assessment did not focus their attention.
Our N-R-G Indicator followed the same successful formula of simple everyday questions. Working from my book Simple Energy-Living a Good and Vigorous Life,I followed a more Eastern Philosophy of Balanced Wellness.
The assessment was a protocol of behavior, ten questions for each category of Physical, Cognitive and Spiritual Wellness. The results provided many growth and lifestyle improvement opportunities. When added to the other assessment instruments it gave the test taker a 360 Talent Snapshot
Following that model, we developed our CV-STAND-OUT…Resume of the Futurewhere all of these metrics dynamically revealed the hidden story of MERIT that an individual possessed.
